DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The Economic Development Agency recognizes that economic development is a vital aspect of Plainville's continued growth. To foster this growth, the EDA strives to increase responsible investment and development throughout our community. The Economic Development Agency advises the Plainville Town Council in matters of economic assistance to existing and incoming businesses. They also advise other land use commissions where their decisions may impact the Town’s economy.
TAX INCENTIVES
The Economic Development Agency accepts applications for tax abatements for new construction and substantial renovations where allowed by law. Click on the link below to download an application for the Town's Tax Incentive Program for development in "non-enterprise zone areas".
The Agency also endorses applications to the State Department of Community and Economic Development for certain types of development within the Plainville’s Enterprise Zone. Also known as the Contiguous Municipality Zone, development meeting certain criteria in this area can be eligible for tax abatements as high as 80% of the value of improvements and/or equipment new to the Town’s tax rolls. To learn more about Enterpise Zone (CMZ) benefits, visit the Business Section of this website.
