DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Plainville Planning and Zoning Commission is the lead land use agency in Plainville.   The Commission hears land use applications for residential, recreational, commercial and industrial purposes. Acting in the planning role, the Commission amends and adopts the Town’s Plan of Conservation and Development, they review all proposed municipal improvements and are empowered to establish, change and administer regulations for the subdivision and re-subdivision of land.  Acting under their zoning authority, the Commission is responsible for the establishment and administration of the Town's zoning regulations. The Commission hears and decides upon petitions for changes in the zoning regulations, as well as reviews, conducts hearings on and decides upon requests for special exceptions and site plan reviews.
